My name is Louise Franklyn and together with my husband Grzegoz Boguta own the Zaltana FCI kennel. I have always loved and lived with dogs - as a small child my first companion was a beautiful, gentle German Shepherd.
Since that time, apart from a brief period when my daughter Lyndsey and I first moved to Poland, dogs have remained an integral and important part of my life.
Grzegorz had never lived with dogs before we met so could not understand why I missed them so much, however it did not take long before Lyndsey and I convinced him that we needed to move to the countryside and buy a dog... or two.
After a great deal of research followed by many hours spent convincing Żaneta Żmuda at Arktogea kennel that we were really well prepared to live with this
breed our first Husky came into our lives, Arktogea Trajan; he was joined two days later by a beautiful German Shepherd puppy Kaiya Satysfakcja (thank you to her breeders Marek and Iwonna Strzelecki). Ash entranced us all with his sheer charm, his mischievious behaviour, his loving ways and crazy antics. Even Kaiya frequently looked on in amazement as he tried to dig his way under the two foot of concrete below our fence.
However....Our 'love affair' with Huskies had begun. Today we live in the countryside close to Warsaw and have been joined by two additional husky's, the foundation of our breeding kennel. The first to join us was Arktogea Emmanuelle (daughter of Int.Ch./Multi Ch./European winner Arktogea Alpina and Canadian import Ch.Canada/Multi Ch./European winner Ebonyshadow N'Shapali's Dragon) and the second Snowmist's Ostia of Arktogea(imported from Canada and the daughter of Ch.Snowmist's Legally Blonde and Ch. Kristari's Just Bummin') I thank Żaneta żmuda-Kozina of Arktogea kennel very much for recommending our young star Emmanuelle and for helping Ostia to come into our lives. I also thank, from the bottom of my heart, Kim Ramsey Leblanc of Snowmist kennel in Ontario Canada for allowing her precious and beautiful Ostia to join us here in Poland.
Emmanuelle and Ostia are,in my opinion, the best possible basis for kennel and it was natural that we would eventually decide to breed our own puppies and do everything we can toward the development and improvement of the Siberian Husky breed. Our dogs are and always will be much loved family members their
success in the show ring is always secondary but all the same enjoyable.
We are very proud of our dogs - their beauty and their temperament/characters. If you are considering buying a Siberian Husky puppy in the near future you are welcome to visit our home, even at short notice, meet our dogs and talk with us about the challenges and rewards that come from living with these charming, gentle, yet wilful dogs.
We only plan very occasional litters
but if after visiting us you decide that this is the breed for you (and we agree you are right for the breed) we will be very happy to help you to contact someone who may have puppies available.
We chose the kennel name Zaltana because it means "high Mountain" in Native American, this is fitting both because Grzegorz has been a mountaineer all his life climbing some of the worlds tallest peaks and because I believe we need to constantly strive to achieve the best possible in everything we do in life and be resilient in trying to achieve our goals. We have tried to learn as much about Siberians as we can, to understand the breed, its characteristics, its good points and its more difficult points. We want to do as much as we can to contribute to the future of this beautiful breed of dog and plan to do this through selective and careful breeding and by introducing strong new bloodlines into our kennel.
I cannot end this page "about us" without mentioning some of the very special people who have gone from being acquaintances at the show ring to true friends. These people have been willing to share their time, knowledge and experience with us, something Grzegorz and I continue to appreciate very much.
Thank you to Katarzyna Czarkowska (Kraina Nigdy Nigdy),Darek and Beata Jasiński (D.B.Arctic), Artur Rafalak and Paulina Borszcz
and lastly but importantly Jose Luis Gomez and Ewa
Górska (Winter Melody).
We hope to spend many enjoyable hours with you all in the future.
A final "thank you" to my friend Magda Barjak, who helps us to train our dogs (running, biking and playing with them - these are huskies!!!) and who also provides a second home for them whenever we need. Magda and her husband Martin, who are based about 30 Kms from Warsaw, are mainly German Shepherd trainers but also work with other breeds.I recommend them to you whatever breed you choose to share your life with.
